Should Gordon Brown Resign-running man 20130908

Gordon Brown has confirmed that he is fighting for his political survival. He is still claiming that the result he wishes to see is yet another outright victory for Labour. Unfortunately for him the polls are clearly saying that the chance of such a result is rapidly slipping away. He can not be surprised as he only wishes to engage with Labour die hard supporters and not be prepared to go out and meet the ordinary working man or woman. These people I think could be called the silent majority. Otherwise known as floating voters. It is these people who will decide the result of the election but it is these very people that Gordon Brown avoids. At the moment he is not taking any chances to meet the floating voter as in the last week of the election campaign his visits have been to heavily committed Labour voters who are living in Labour controlled areas of London. On his campaign he did stop at a converted Church Crypt in Camberwell South East London. There he said ["e;]The only reason I came into Politics was because I wanted to serve the people and make sure that there was justice and decency and fairness["e;]. When people say that they stand for fairness I would expect them to be fair and obviously honest in the information that they provide. Even more so when before a committee such as the Chilcot Committee in to the British involvement in the War in Iraq. Before that Committee Brown gave information which was not truthful. He was asked to confirm that the budget for the British Army who were deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan had increased in real terms every year. He confirmed that this was the case. He should know as he was the Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1997 to 2007 and then as Prime Minister. He would have known in advance what the subjects were that would be raised and had no excuse not to be well briefed with the correct information at his figure tips. He did confirm that the budget had increased in real terms for each year and then he had to apologize,in the House of Commons, about a week later that he was wrong. How can some one who believes in justice, decency and fairness make this mistake? He is, I am sure, no fool so does he think we, the public are just fools, and will not see through his errors and mistakes? I say this as he does seem to make many errors when he provides information. Now let us have a look at what he has said about immigration. During tis speech Brown claimed that since the introduction of the Government’s points based immigration system a reduction of 20,000 skilled computer workers had been achieved. But as usual he fails to give the full picture as he does not mention a rise of nearly 65,000 in the number of students that were admitted in the same period. It is understood that the chairman of the UK Statistics Authority, Sir Michael Scholar, has in fact written to the Home Office complaining that the Prime Minister has broken the strict Whitehall code of conduct by using figures which had not been yet been released to the public. The figures had been passed by the statistics authority to the Home Office, but they had not been published, and so they were not available to the other party leaders. After the speech by Brown, Sir Michael launched an official inquiry into the use of the figures. The probe by Sir Michael is as a direct result of an official complaint from Sir Andrew Green, the chairman of Migration Watch. He has stated ["e;]This saga has all the hallmarks of another Home Office cover-up. No wonder public confidence in the government’s statements on immigration is at rock bottom.["e;] I am of the obvious opinion that Brown can no longer be trusted to be fair as in these two examples he is less than clear as the figures simply show. He did away with the ability of pension funds to reclaim the tax on their dividend income and sold more than 50% of the UK’s Gold Reserves at a record 30 year low. Since this sale Gold has increased more than three fold . When challenged on this he claims that it was the fault of his predecessors’ not to diversify as he did into the Euro and US Dollar. Does he really believe that the electorate is stupid or fool enough not see through his lame excuses? But to sum up this Government you only have to look at the weakness of the pound. As Brown used to say when in opposition to the Conservatives a weak pound means a weak Government and in Browns case not only is it weak but it cannot get any figures correct.
